About Glass MediationsA Brief History Douglas A. Glass is a full-time mediator in San Diego, California, and devotes his entire professional practice exclusively to mediations. Since becoming a full-time mediator in 2001, Doug has been selected as the mediator in over 2,000 cases establishing him as one of the most experienced and sought after mediators in California. He has a reputation for hard work, thorough preparation, engaging the parties in critical analysis of the factual and legal issues, being a positive leader to help find creative solutions, not letting the parties quit, being tough on the problem, and inspiring the parties to determine and craft their own outcome to the dispute. As a result of this dedication and passion for mediation, Doug is now one of only five mediators in San Diego County listed in the prestigious Best Lawyers in America® 2008 Edition in the category of Alternative Dispute Resolution. Glass Mediations is located in the landmark Mr. A’s Building near Balboa Park and has panoramic views from Mexico to La Jolla. The private four office suite provides a neutral, comfortable, safe and confidential environment for the parties to explore settlement options. Refreshments are always provided so that all participants can keep their energy level high in order to maintain focus on the issues at hand. Between 1982 and 2001, Doug was a civil trial attorney with an emphasis on real estate, personal injury, and construction defect litigation. He primarily represented plaintiffs, but developed an expertise in defending home inspectors and, as a result, did a significant amount of insurance defense work for construction and design professionals. Doug tried over 100 cases during his career and was AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. In 1997, Doug was honored by the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego with an Outstanding Trial Lawyer Award. In 2001, he was recognized by the California Real Estate Inspection Association as one of the twenty-five most influential individuals in the twenty-five year history of CREIA. As for his personal mediation philosophy, Doug offers the following insight: "Albert Einstein observed that in the middle of difficulty lies opportunity. In our world of litigation, full of difficulty, opportunity for peaceful resolution is hard to imagine, let alone achieve. I believe that no matter how dark or discouraging things seem to be or actually are, we must raise our sights and see possibilities for successful and peaceful resolution of conflict, for they are surely there. As you know, it doesn’t come easily, but I pledge to you that I will work hard for you and your clients with a full and focused effort to achieve creative, sensible solutions. It takes a team effort. Success requires all parties coming together to mediate the dispute, staying together during the process even when all seems lost, and, most important, working together honestly, compassionately, fairly and respectfully. I share a belief articulated by Franklin D. Roosevelt that happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort. If you want to maximize your opportunities for successful resolution of your complex and difficult disputes, please give me a call. Good results come from hard work and I am ready to go to work for you!" |
